What is Functional Medicine?

What is Functional Medicine?

At its core, Functional Medicine is the practice of medicine to improve your function, to help you feel the best we know how.

We use Diagnostic Tests To find the Root Cause:

  • We work with the most groundbreaking labs and research

  • We run tests that many doctors don’t know exist

  • Scientific and research driven reports and write-ups

  • Blood, Urine, Saliva, Stool, Hairs, Swabs

    • To look for:

      • Deficiencies

      • Inflammation

      • Hormones

      • Heavy metals

      • Parasites

      • Yeast

      • Detox pathways

      • Genetics

      • Gut health

      • Heart health

      • Brain health

      • Mold and Fungus

      • Autoimmune

      • Infections

      • Blood Sugar Imbalances

      • Etc…

  • In Office

    • Time with the doctor to go over and explain:

      • Lab results

      • Diet plan

      • Exercise plans

      • Supplements

      • Expectations and time frames.

This is about doing everything we can to identify a root problem and work with you to improve and overcome the deficiencies. We identify lifestyle changes and best interventions.

This is different from the traditional practice of medicine, which is emergency medicine. Normally medicine does not intervene unless you are injured, dying or already in a serious state of disease.

This is why when you feel, tired, worn out, anxious, and you know something is wrong, blood work is run and the answer is: “Your Fine.” Or if something does come back in the blood work, your are given a prescription and told “take this and we will monitor the levels.”

What you are not being told is by the time blood work is out of rance, you are already in a diseased state. That is what the reference ranges are for: not diseased or diseased.

Functional Medicine works to find the root cause of your diminishing function early. It works to find a real root cause to that decline. Your cholesterol level isn’t high simply because you do not have enough cholesterol lowering medication in your blood.

This is a path that takes time and takes changes to see the results. Time and time again I have seen miraculous changes take place in the lives of clients through this journey. It takes work work and a willingness to dive in. It requires diet changes, movement routines, detoxifying, supplementing, and much more.
