Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of problems are treated by massage? + -

A: Too many to count. Massage can help relieve pain and physical stress associated with many conditions of the musculoskeletal system. Whether the pain is from an overuse injury, an acute injury, a structural abnormality, or just the stress of daily living, massage can offer the relief you need to feel better in your body and mind. Massage is can also be great for those dealing with chronic inflammatory conditions, such as fibromyalgia, autoimmune diseases, and Lymes disease, to stimulate lymphatic flow and bolstering the immune system

Why use essential oils during massage? + -

A: Using essential oils can be used in several ways during a massage, either as aromatherapy, or massaged into the skin with a carrier oil. Essential oils have many therapeutic properties that can enhance a massage experience, including anti-inflammatory, stimulating blood flow, relaxing the nervous system, and relieving pain. The benefits can be derived from simple aromatherapy (via a warm wet cloth placed on the body or by diffusing it into the air), but massaging the oils into the tissues allows the body to absorb small amounts of the oil through the skin, where they can employ their therapeutic benefits internally. From personal experience, the positive effects of the massage will last much longer and stick with the body if targeted essential oils are applied to the carrier oil.

What is a BioMat? + -

A: This is a therapeutic mat that is used to further enhance the benefits of massage. The mat is lined with amethyst and tourmaline crystals with an infrared heating pad that lies underneath. Amethyst crystals are piezoelectric, meaning they are able to carry both a negative and a positive charge. When the infrared rays pass through the amethyst, the infrared wavelengths lengthen and will also pass negatively charged ions into the deep tissues of the body. As a result, a person lying on the mat will feel deeper muscle relaxation and increased circulation to the deeper tissues of the body, allowing the massage techniques to be more effective
