Thyroid imbalances have a list of symptoms: low energy, weight gain, can’t lose weight, hair lose, difficulty waking, fatigue (most often described as an inner exhaustion), anxiety, dry skin, unpredictable bowels, consistently feeling cold, and many others
Importance Of History:
We are the culmination of the physical traumas that we have experienced. It is very important for us (the doctors) to understand the events that have occurred in your life. Thyroid imbalances are most often associated with large amounts of consistent stress in one’s life. This can come from physical traumas that have never been corrected, emotional stress of work and relationships, as well as the internal workings of your physiology: food allergies, sub-clinical infections, and vitamin deficiencies all become a part of the picture.
The Correction:
Building from years of training in Applied Kinesiology and working hands-on with clients, we have found specific ways to identify thyroid imbalances through our physical examination. Once determined, a full thyroid blood panel is requested including TSH, T3, T4, Reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies. Depending on the results of the blood work and the muscle testing findings, the correction often includes dietary changes with the removal of specific foods, specific nutrition to support the varying thyroid hormone production pathways, and often herbs or glandular products that have been found to help with thyroid hormone production such as Olive Leaf and Kelp. In most cases there is also a need for ongoing physical corrections as these play a large part in the overall stress of the body and often are found to be a crucial component to the imbalance.
Time Frame:
Thyroid issues take time. Usually, a set of 3-4 visits upfront is needed to identify the varying components of the plan. Once the plan is in place, then we do follow-ups every couple of weeks to monitor and continue work through past injuries. Blood work is run again at 3 months to re-assess the levels of the hormones and to identify improvement. Depending on the severity of the thyroid imbalance, and the rate improvements are seen, things may be in order after 3 months or will often continue for another 3- 4 months.
