Fall Wellness Tips

Orie Quinn

Fall is officially here, and that means that seasonal colds, the flu, and other nasty bugs are just around the corner. In today’s post, we’ll provide you with a few tips that can help you stay well this fall. When you’ve finished reading this post, book an appointment with a member of Ozark Holistic Center. Whether you need chiropractic treatment or nutritional counseling, we’ll work to help you find lasting relief.

Get Plenty of Vitamin D

With the leaves falling and winter just around the corner, you’re probably looking forward to curling up with your favorite book, a hot cup of tea, and staying warm as the temperatures begin to drop. While we’re just as excited as you are to bundle up for the winter, you should be aware that vitamin D deficiency is a health risk to watch out for around this time of year.

The body gets most of the vitamin D it needs to thrive from the sun, and many people consequently become deficient as the winter goes on. Deficiency is linked to colon cancer, heart disease, depression, weight gain, and other serious health conditions, so speak with a member of Ozark Holistic Center to learn more about how we can help you stay healthy throughout the winter.

Wash Your Hands

You’ve heard it a million times, but that doesn’t make it any less true – washing your hands is one of the best ways to keep the seasonal bug going around the office or your child’s school at bay. With the holiday season just around the corner, more and more people will be going out to shop regardless of how they feel, so be sure that you’re washing your hands the moment you walk through your door. You may want to invest in a naturally derived hand soap, however, as many of the products on today’s market contain harsh chemicals that will dry out your skin. Regardless of what you choose to use, you’ll be doing yourself a favor by getting into the habit now.

Exercise

It doesn’t matter what time of the year it is – regular exercise is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Exercise boosts your mood, provides you with more energy throughout the day, and can reduce your risk of disease. If you are currently unable to exercise due to ongoing pain, then consider trying chiropractic treatment. Chiropractic care focuses on treating your spine and addressing the fundamental causes of pain, and you may find that you have more energy and can move with reduced pain after several sessions.

Eat Well

With the holidays just around the corner, there will be no shortage of sweets and splurges around the office, at home, and whenever you visit a friend’s house. While there’s no harm in indulging every once in a while, consistent sugar consumption can wreak havoc on your immune system and contribute to systemic inflammation throughout the body. Do your best to eat well during the next few months, but don’t beat yourself up if you have dessert the next time you go out. We offer nutritional counseling in addition to chiropractic treatment, so please reach out to us if you would like to learn more about nutrition this holiday season.
